FD Work Vest – Japanese Hickory

Inspired by traditional workwear and handcrafted in Birmingham, the FD Work Vest is built for those who appreciate functional design and honest craftsmanship.

Made from premium Japanese hickory, it combines heritage workwear styling with practical everyday wear. The clean silhouette features two tailored jet pockets, a single chest pocket, and an adjustable rear cinch, secured with solid copper rivets for added durability. Finished with solid copper buttons, every detail has been chosen with longevity and function in mind.

Originally associated with early railroad and industrial workwear, hickory stripe became known for its durability and distinctive appearance. Woven in Japan using traditional methods, the indigo and natural striped fabric develops character with every wear, creating a garment that tells its own story over time.

Every vest is cut and sewn one at a time in Birmingham using traditional manufacturing techniques, reflecting our commitment to quality over quantity.

With just one roll of Japanese hickory available, the FD Work Vest will be produced in very limited numbers. Each piece is handmade to order with an estimated lead time of 4–6 weeks.

Care Instructions

• Wash inside out at 30°C or below
• Wash with similar colours
• Do not bleach
• Hang dry naturally
• Do not tumble dry
• Iron on a medium heat if required
• Avoid frequent washing to preserve the fabric and allow it to develop character over time

Note: Japanese hickory will soften with wear while retaining its strength. The indigo stripes will gradually fade, creating a unique patina that reflects how the garment has been worn.
